Hello Team 2006! Sign-ups for a new NaNoWriMo begin on October 1. We're all working 18 hours a day to finish up site text, load in new icons, and get everything to a reasonably functional state before opening the site for another year of creative mayhem. Gearing up for November!

With a new NaNo season almost upon us, I wanted to spread the word about a few key site events that will be happening in the next two weeks. At 11:59:59 pm on September 20th, Russ will lock and archive the forums, paving the way for the installation of new message boards, and the subequent October 1 site re-launch.

Well, it's August. Which means we've sailed into the eye of the NaNoWriMo planning hurricane. Web designers are furiously fixing our clunky NaNoMail interface, the forums are getting an upgrade, the t-shirts and posters are being finalized, servers are migrating and robustifying, the site's flash is being brought up to speed, our new non-profit organization, the Office of Letters and Light, is making its mightily

Many great bits! We've hired the designer for the 2006 NaNoWriMo poster and t-shirt. Jason Munn has done freakishly stunning work for everyone from Random House to Death Cab For Cutie. Jason lives a few blocks from me in Oakland, and we met at a local pizzeria to talk about potential designs on Wednesday. Good pizza. Good guy. Beautiful posters.

Greetings! Some exciting newsbits from the off-season for ye!
1) National Novel Editing Month is starting March 1. That's fifty sweet hours of revising, and a great kick in the pants for your slumbering NaNo novel.
2) This month, NaNoWriMo's accountant figured out the taxes we owe for 2005---the last piece of the puzzle we needed to figure out our net proceeds for the year. There's some great news. Thanks to the generosity
